The Met One Instruments, Inc. BC 1050 Series, Black Carbon Monitors, measures the absorption of 
particulate matter onto filter tape continuously. The BC 1050 monitor operates at 2-wavelengths and 
the BC 1054 operates at 10-wavelengths. The BC 1050 offers the user the ability to monitor 
absorption at near-IR (880 nm) and near-UV (375 nm) wavelengths






simultaneously with a standard minimum time resolution of 1-minute. The BC 1054, multi-spectrum carbon monitor, measures the absorption at 375, 430, 470, 525, 565, 590, 660, 700, 880 and 950 nm with a standard time resolution of 1-minute. Optional
1-second time resolution is available for both the BC 1050 and the BC 1054.

Both monitors offer the following advanced features:
•   Active flow control between 2 and 5 LPM. Concentrations may be reported under either actual or standard flow conditions. Optional 16.7 LPM operation is  offered.
•   Compact flash storage of more than 1-years worth of 1-minute data standard. Expanded memory storage is available.
•   Built in filter-loading correction algorithm using the Park technique with user-selectable 
input criteria  standard.
•   “Data-Masher” for off-line filter loading correction provided with each unit   sold.
•   Cloud service is available.
•   Advanced diagnostics flow, optics, tape drive  operation.
•   Met sensor inputs.
•   Ultra-high sensitivity, sub-ng/m3 sensitivity on the hourly timescale.

All BC 1050 and BC 1054 monitors come equipped with active flow control; concentrations may be 
displayed under actual or standard flow conditions.

All BC 1050 and BC 1054 monitors are factory calibrated in a smoke chamber using the same method that almost 10,000 Met One Instruments beta attenuation mass monitors have been calibrated. This insures long-term and long-range reproducibility and traceability. All equipment returned for service is recalibrated against the factory reference standard before being returned to the field thereby ensuring continuity of data collection.

The BC 1050 and BC 1054 monitors are manufactured at an ISO-9001 Facility.

BC 1050 and BC 1054 monitors have input and output options to enable the user to add other 
measurements and/or output data to cloud services or to memory sticks. The BC 1050 and BC 1054 will directly connect to a variety of products, such as the BAM 1020, discrete particle size and counting modules, or a wide array of meteorological sensor inputs.
