RE: Filter Media Used
in Met One Instruments, Inc. Beta Attenuation Mass Monitors
Dear Customer,
It has come to our attention that certain third party vendors
have been aggressively selling filter tape purported to be a drop in
replacement for the filter tape offered by Met One Instruments for use in our
beta gauges. These “grey market” products have not been tested or qualified for
use in any of our beta attenuation mass monitors. Use of unqualified filter
tape in our products could cause a reduction in instrument performance such as
drift, tape breakage, humidity interference or increased cleaning requirements.
Furthermore, such products are known in many instances to cause corrosion to
the roller mechanism because of inadequate cleaning during the tape manufacturing
process.
We cannot guarantee the performance of our products when
third party filter media is used. More importantly, use of third party filter
tape in any of our beta gauges will permanently invalidate the manufacturer’s
warranty offered by Met One Instruments, Inc.
We have recently modified the US-EPA designations on all of
our beta gauges to require the use of filter tape with the following Met One
Instruments, Inc. part numbers:
460130
460180
One or the other of these two filter tapes must be used in
US-EPA designated beta gauges manufactured by Met One Instruments in order to
operate the beta gauge as a US-EPA designated equivalent method.
Please contact the undersigned should you have any
additional questions.
Yours Truly,
David Gobeli, Ph.D.
