Recent satellite images of the country show large hazy clouds covering portions of northeastern China that are so thick they can be seen...

 In a recent article in Weibo, the person monitored the outdoor air in Beijing and got a reading of 2242 ug for PM 2.5  which was posted in a blog.  The official monitors registered more than 1/2 lower reading for PM2.5 at the same time.  This is the prime example of why using a handheld monitor to measure ambient air will not offer reliable data.
